A QR code is the fastest way to hand over information without typing it. Payment details, Wi-Fi credentials, menus, tickets, package tracking numbers and business cards all fit inside a square of black and white modules.
You meet them everywhere: on product packaging and shipping labels, on restaurant tables and museum walls, on invoices, boarding passes, parcel lockers and ID documents.
The catch is that the data is encoded — the human eye cannot read it. That is what a QR code scanner is for: it finds the code in an image or a video frame, decodes the modules and gives you back plain, readable text.
Most QR codes carry a URL, but they can just as easily hold a phone number, an email draft, an SMS, a Wi-Fi login, a vCard contact, a calendar event, a geographic location, a payment request or a plain note.
Phone apps can do this too, but they tend to be stuffed with ads and permissions. An online scanner needs neither an install nor an account.
ScannerQRCodes reads QR codes straight from your camera, from an uploaded image or from anything you paste out of the clipboard — and it does all of the decoding locally, inside your browser.

Your camera stream and your images never leave the device. There is no upload endpoint, so scanned content simply cannot reach our servers.

The decoded content is split into readable fields instead of one long string, so you can grab exactly the part you need.
The scanner recognises every standard QR payload as well as the common retail barcodes. Try any of the examples below — copy or download the image, then scan it.
Plain text: a note, a code word, a serial number or a short message. Anything that is not a recognised format is shown as text.
A website address. This is the most common type — menus, campaigns, app downloads and landing pages all use it. The result comes with an Open button.
Network credentials in the WIFI: scheme. The scanner splits the raw string into the network name, the password and the security type so you can copy the password on its own.
A prepared email in either the mailto: or the MATMSG: notation. Address, subject and body are extracted separately and can be opened directly in your mail client.
A pre-written text message. The phone number and the message body are separated, so you can dial the number or open your SMS app with the text already filled in.
A digital business card in vCard or MECARD format. Name, phone, email, company, job title, website and address are each returned as their own row.
A geographic point in the geo: scheme. Latitude and longitude are shown separately and the Open button drops you straight onto a map.
Retail barcodes are supported too: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128 and ITF. The decoded number can be looked up with one click.
No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser using a local WebAssembly worker. The camera stream and any image you drop in stay on your device — there is no upload endpoint to send them to.
No. The scanner is a normal web page. You can add it to your home screen for one-tap access, but nothing is installed and no permissions are requested until you press Start Camera.
Browsers only grant camera access over HTTPS and only after you allow it. If you dismissed the prompt, re-enable the camera for this site in your browser settings and reload. Some in-app browsers (inside social apps) block the camera entirely — open the page in Safari or Chrome instead.
Failed images are automatically retried with resizing, grayscale, auto-contrast, thresholding, cropping and rotation. If it still fails, the code is likely cut off, heavily blurred or covered by a logo. Crop tightly around the code and try again.

Scanning is safe: you always see the decoded text before anything happens. Acting on it is where care is needed — check the domain of a link before opening it, and never enter payment details on a page you reached from an unfamiliar sticker.
